CHAPTER 29: Adrian

––––––––

Adrian waited with Ellie upstairs at the Club. Ethan had ushered Craig and Liz to his office and them to one down the hallway.

“Do you want some water or something?” He walked over to a small fridge in the corner of the office.

“I want to go home.” She sat on a chair staring down at her hands in her lap. She looked fragile like a broken doll or a small child.

“Okay. I’ll go talk to your parents.”

“No.” She almost jumped from the chair. “I can’t talk to them. Not right now.”

“Ah...but you want to go home?” She wasn’t making any sense.

She blinked and then wiped a large tear off her cheek. “Not to my parents’ home. To your apartment.” She tucked her feet up on the chair. “Is that okay?”

He wanted to wrap her in his arms and protect her from everything. “Of course. Give me a minute.” He walked toward the door, but it opened before he could get there.

Ethan stepped inside the room. “Your parents are ready to see you now.”

“No. I can’t.” She shook her head, her eyes pleading with Adrian.

“Ethan, I’m going to take her home. They can talk tomorrow.”

“Craig and Liz want to see her tonight.”

“I’ll talk to them,” he said.

“I already did.” Ethan’s blue eyes landed on Ellie. “And they aren’t thrilled about any of this. Their rights here have been violated.”

“I violated their rights?” Ellie snorted.

“In this club they have a right to privacy.”

“They were on stage.”

“They have a right to their secrets, and you took that away from them when you trespassed. I should have you arrested.”

“Hold on.” He stepped in front of Ellie. “She didn’t know.”

“She was told to wait at the door.” Ethan’s tone was icy enough to freeze fire.

“She made a mistake.”

“A costly one for both her and her parents.”

“Ethan, please. Let me take her home. This isn’t a good time for any of them to talk.”

“That’s up to Craig and Liz.”

“And Ellie.” He was getting tired of Ethan treating her like she didn’t matter. Yes, it was her fault, but she was involved in this mess too.

“She’s not my concern. She’s not my customer.”

“She’s my concern and I’m taking her home.” He grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet.

Ethan shook his head, smiling slightly as two of his bouncers stepped into the doorway, making it clear that no one was leaving without Ethan’s consent.

“Don’t do this, Ethan. They can talk tomorrow.”

Ethan studied them a moment before saying, “You leave here with her and your membership is terminated.”

“I don’t give a shit about my membership.” Adrian relaxed. Ethan was letting them go.

“I hope you don’t regret that decision.” Ethan’s gaze fell on Ellie.

“I won’t.” He did too. He liked hanging out with Ethan, but he had to take care of Ellie. She came first for him. “Come on, Ellie.”

“Not so fast,” said Ethan. “Craig and Liz expect to speak with their daughter tonight. If you can convince them to wait until tomorrow, the two of you may leave.
